The Bulk Materials Group focuses on the synthesis and characterisation of novel bulk materials for energy storage and conversion. Bulk materials encompass in principle all materials that are not dependent on certain microstructures and focus lies on how their material properties are governed and influenced by chemical composition. The group holds expertise in diffraction techniques, but also provides absorption/desorption measurements and electrochemical methods. Main applications are in the hydrogen storage and battery areas well as magnetic materials.
