Description

The fundamental idea behind Neutron Vibrational Spectroscopy (NVS) technique is rather similar to that exploited in Raman optical spectroscopy. In practice, a sampling probe, carrying energy larger than that of the internal excitations, is directed on the sample and the scattered components are spectroscopically analysed. The resulting energy loss, experienced by the probe, gives direct information on the energy level structure of the sample.
